<p><b>Can I build muscle and burn fat with this exercise plan?</b>
<p>I weight lift regularly, about 5-6 days a week. I want to start walking an hour everyday as well. I did the research and with an hour walking I can burn 280 calories. Add that<span id="more-117"></span> to the 227 calories I burn weight lifting and that&#039;s 507 calories burned. I know you can&#039;t do cardio like tae bo or running and still gain muscle, so I thought that I might try something not as intense like walking but I&#039;m not sure if I can burn the calories walking and still maintain gains in the weight room. </p>
<p>I was wondering if anyone had experience with this or has knowledge about it? If so, please help!</p>

<p>Washington, Aug 25 (ANI): Measuring liver fat may be a better way to determine a person&#39;s risk for developing diabetes and heart disease than measuring<span id="more-115"></span> belly fat, according to researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.</p>
<p>Having too much liver fat is known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.</p>
<p>The researchers say that when fat collects in the liver, people experience serious metabolic problems such as insulin resistance, which affects the body&#39;s ability to metabolize sugar.</p>
<p>They also have increases in production of fat particles in the liver that are secreted into the bloodstream and increase the level of triglycerides.</p>
<p>For years, scientists have noted that where individuals carried body fat influences their metabolic and cardiovascular risk.</p>
<p>Increased fat inside the belly, known as visceral fat, is linked to an higher risk of diabetes and heart disease.</p>
<p>&#8220;Data from a large number of studies shows that visceral fat is associated with metabolic risk, which has led to the belief that visceral fat might even cause metabolic dysfunction,&#8221; says study&#39;s lead author Samuel Klein.</p>
<p>&#8220;However, visceral fat tracks closely with liver fat. We have found that excess fat in the liver, not visceral fat, is a key marker of metabolic dysfunction. Visceral fat might simply be an innocent bystander that is associated with liver fat,&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>Klein says most of our body fat, called subcutaneous fat, is located under our skin, but about 10 percent is present inside the belly, while much smaller amounts are found inside organs such as the liver and muscle.</p>
<p>In the study, the researchers compared obese people with elevated and normal amounts of liver fat. All subjects were matched by age, sex, body mass index; percent body fat and degree of obesity.</p>
<p>Through careful evaluations of obese people with different amounts of visceral fat or liver fat, Klein&#39;s team determined that excess fat inside the liver identifies those individuals who are at risk for metabolic problems.</p>
<p>The study has been published online in the journal PNAS Early Edition. (ANI)</p></p>

Do you have trouble trying to lose belly fat with exercise?  If so, you are probably making some very simple mistakes. Learn how to fix them once and for all.</p>
<p>If you answered yes, then you are certainly not alone! Chances are that<span id="more-114"></span> you are making some very common mistakes when you exercise.  These mistakes are stopping you from being able to effectively lose belly fat with exercise!</p>
<p>This article will explore 2 very important aspects of your exercise routine that you must have correct if you want to finally start to lose tummy fat.</p>
<p>1. Circuit Training to Jump Start Your Metabolism</p>
<p>Many people simply do not know that you can lose belly fat with exercise by strength training in a circuit of different exercises.</p>
<p>It is interesting.  The more muscle you work when you exercise, the higher the number of calories you will use during the actual working and in the hours after you are finished. To many, this is counterintuitive.</p>
<p>Many people think that strength training is a form of exercise that adds massive amounts of muscle, not helping to lose stomach fat.</p>
<p>I really want to help you see how weight training will help you increase strength, raise your resting metabolism, shape your muscles, get past frustrating plateau&#8217;s, and last but not least, help you lose belly fat!</p>
<p>I do want to warn you though, do not make the common mistake of just doing &#8220;3 sets of 15 reps&#8221; on the machines in the gym. Machines can sometimes be a decent way to begin, but they are simply not the most optimal way to help you lose belly fat.</p>
<p>A more ideal alternative is to use circuit training exercise to help you get more work done in less time.  Try using your own bodyweight and some functional equipment instead of the machines and you will see what a difference it makes!</p>
<p>Here is an example circuit training routine:</p>
<p>First, do a 5-10 minute warm-up</p>
<p>1.  Inverted pushups &#8216; 12 reps</p>
<p>2.  Bent over dumbbell row &#8216; 12 reps</p>
<p>3.  Bodyweight squats &#8216; 12 reps</p>
<p>4.  Stability ball leg curls &#8216; 12 reps</p>
<p>5.  Side planks &#8216; 5-10 seconds per side</p>
<p>6.  Standing overhead DB press &#8216; 12 reps</p>
<p>7.  Stability ball crunches &#8216; 15 reps</p>
<p>Try going from the beginning to the end with 0-30 seconds of rest in between each exercise.  If you do this entire circuit 2-3 times, you will get a great workout that will help you lose belly fat and gain muscle in about 20-30 minutes.</p>
<p>This is just a sample exercise routine that illustrates that basic structure of a fat loss circuit training workout With this circuit training workout, you will exercise to lose belly fat as well as get stronger!</p>
<p>Always try to rest at least one day in between each workout to give your body a chance to recover.  Remember that your muscles build up and get stronger while you are at rest after an exercise session.</p>
<p>2. Interval Training as Opposed to the &#8220;Average Cardio Routine&#8221;</p>
<p>If you have never tried interval training instead of the average long, boring, and arduous cardio routine, you are totally missing out!</p>
<p>The truth is, going slow on a cardio machine for 30-60 minutes like most people is not an efficient way to exercise to lose belly fat.  All you are doing is training your body to adapt to the same workout, which in turn will have you burning fewer calories with each exposure.</p>
<p>Interval training help you lose stomach fat because it has a huge impact on your resting metabolism.  This means you burn calories after the session is over.</p>
<p>One research study found that interval training burned calories for up to 36 hours after the exercise session was over.  The same study found that people who used interval training burned more calories than those who did the normal slow cardio routine.</p>
<p>Here is the bottom line: if you want to exercise to lose body fat in the quickest and most efficient way possible, then interval training is a must.</p>
<p>With interval training, you merely alternate between high and low intensities instead of going at the same speed the whole time. If you use interval training directly after a circuit training workout, you will get a lot more work done in less time.</p>
<p>You will crank up your metabolism for several hours after you are done working out.  This will help you burn many more calories that if you did the standard long, slow, boring cardio routine.</p>
<p>Now that you see a basic structure for your workouts that will help you finally lose belly fat with exercise, it is time to go give it a try. Losing fat does not have to be arduous and slow.</p>
<p>With the right exercise routine combined with the right diet, you should lose 1-3 lbs of belly fat each week, depending on what condition you are in when you begin. Good luck!</p>

<p>Visceral fat surrounds your internal organs, mostly in the stomach region, and is the reason so many people have big bellies.  This is the really dangerous fat, directly linked to diabetes, heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke<span id="more-111"></span> and some cancers.  It is full of hormones and toxins, which, when released, go directly to the liver or into the bloodstream.  The more visceral fat your body carries, the more likely you are to develop any of the above diseases or conditions, all of which can incapacitate or kill you.</p>
<p>The good news is that although visceral fat is the easiest fat to put on, it&#8217;s also the easiest to take off.  Many studies have shown that while losing weight may stop the growth of visceral fat or minimally reduce it, exercise is what really burns it off.  A brisk 30-minute walk, six times a week will stave off increases in visceral fat and test subjects who performed intensive aerobic exercise 5 &#8211; 6 times per week were able to lose several pounds of visceral fat over a period of six months.</p>
<p>Dieting alone won&#8217;t rid your body of visceral fat; it must be burned off through exercise, and in order to keep it off, you must make adequate aerobic exercise a part of your daily life.  People who lead sedentary lives have more visceral fat than those who are even moderately active.  Weight loss diets unaccompanied by sufficient aerobic and muscle strengthening exercise may cause you to lose weight, but most of the loss is from lean muscle tissue and not from stored fat.</p>
<p>Your body hoards and protects its fat stores like a dragon does the treasure in its cave, and adds to its collection as much as it can.  It&#8217;s up to you to convince your body that your lean muscle tissue is too precious to sacrifice, so that it will resort to burning fat for its fuel.  This can be done only by &#8220;showcasing&#8221; your muscles by exercising each muscle group in order to bring them to the attention of your body.  Brisk walking, swimming, cycling, cardiovascular aerobics and anaerobic exercises such as resistance weight training and Pilates will do this for you by raising your metabolism so that you burn calories and fat more rapidly without losing nearly as much lean muscle.  Preserving your lean muscle tissue through exercise also makes you stronger and takes inches off your body through the combination of fat loss and muscle tightening and toning.</p>
<p>Your entire body benefits from the loss of visceral fat.  Losing visceral fat decreases your resistance to insulin, which can prevent Type II Diabetes, or if you are already diabetic, increase the efficiency of the insulin your body produces, making it easier to control your blood glucose levels.  Your body won&#8217;t have to deal with the toxins that visceral fat releases into your system; if you are hypertensive, your blood pressure may be easier to control, decreasing your risk for heart attack and stroke.  With less weight to carry, your stamina is increased and even small tasks that once tired you out are easier to accomplish.  The more visceral fat you lose, the flatter your stomach becomes, resulting in the ability to wear smaller clothing sizes and have a trimmer figure.</p>
<p>Everyone needs to avoid putting on visceral fat.  Diet is an important part of losing fat, but sufficient exercise guarantees visceral fat loss, and may save your life!</p>
