There is so much hype around the fact that we need to cut out fat in our diet that it is mind blowing. However what doesn’t seem to be taken into account is the fact that there are acutually many different types of fat around and you need to know the difference between good fat and bad fat to be able to know what you are doing.
Not All Fat Is Bad
In fact eating some kinds of healthy fat is actually very important to the working of your body and to your overall health in general. What the problem is that there is so much bad information out there about different types of fats and there are so many so called experts that will tell you that you should cut your fat intake right down, that it gets confusing for the average person who just wants to make sure they are eating healthily.
Here is a list of just some of the healthier options when it comes to eating fats:
- Coconut fat
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Dark, bittersweet chocolate (>70% cocoa)
- Avocados or guacamole
- High fat fish such as wild salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, trout, etc
- Nuts
These are just a few of the foods that contain “healthy fats” there are many more, but eating these foods (in moderation as always) you will be getting a nice bit of healthy fat. And yes you should cut out the “Bad Fat” that is often found in other foods, especially man made foods.
