Have you ever heard the saying, “you are what you eat?” If you have, have you really thought about what it means, and if you haven’t you should give it a little thought.
What You Put In Your Mouth Dictates a Lot
I often hear about or see people that are frustrated with their weight and the way their body looks and feels. One of the most frustrated set of people you will find are those that exercise a lot but who still don’t have the body they desire. Why is that?
At first glance it can actually be quite hard to figure out the answer to that question. They are exercising hard and they are making sure they get enough rest and they seem to be eating less junk food than they used to.
It is often only when you really get down to questioning them in depth about exactly what they are eating that the problems really surface.
You Are What You Eat!
The fundamental food problem: One of the fundamental food related problems I see with people in this situation is that 90% of what they are eating is healthy and correct, but it is the other 10% that is causing the problem.
Often this other 10% is made up of the extras. Things such as toppings and sauces that people put on their food to make it taste better can be a prime reason why they are no longer losing weight or why they can’t shift that extra little bit of fat just where they need to. Loads of extra cheese on various dishes is one of the prime culprits.
When accessing what you eat, you must make sure that you don’t cheat. If you want to see the results you have to lay the facts bare on the table. Don’t kid yourself that you are eating healthy when there is a food vice that you are holding onto and that you consistently indulge in.
Don’t Diet – Change Your Eating Habits Instead
I am sure you have heard it before – Diets don’t’ work. Yet you are confused because you know that there are many people that have lost weight through dieting.
What you don’t sometimes see is that a high proportion of these people go on to put the weight back on, at a later date.
There are many reasons why dieting in the traditional sense does not work, but that is a topic for another day.
However, all you need to understand for now is that dieting doesn’t work, but changing your diet as in changing your eating habits and the way you mentally associated food along with your lifestyle, does work.
If you don’t change your mental associations that you currently have regarding food and if you don’t change your habits regarding food, then you are probably destined to fail.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but the likelihood is that you will fail at some point in the not to distant future.
Combine Exercise with Eating Correctly for Fast Results
If you are trying to lose weight then eating currently is the first thing you need to do. But if you want to see life changing results fast then you should combine it with exercise. It is useful to lose all the weight but then how do you want your body to look afterwards?
If you don’t dictate to your body how you want it to look after you have lost the weight then it will dictate to you what you will look like. You need to make sure that you are toned were you want to be toned and slim where you want to be slim.
Exercise will speed up the weight lost process.
If you are trying to put on weight then again exercise can make sure that you put it on in the right places.
